Christmas Genocide

So now that Christmas is over, I usually notice this spirit in my city. It's like a wave of Christmas Genocide. Tear down everything Christmas oriented, and all the ornaments. Like these things are an aberration to the new year and must be destroyed.

Lately I've noticed this happening BEFORE Christmas with freaks trying to knock the Christ out of Christmas, making it either Xmas or HOLIDAY. What the hell is this all about? Who cares what it's called? I don't run around my city trying to change the name just because I don't like the first few words. Can't we pad out the Christmas spirit till the New Year? That's what old Christmas (Epiphany [where we get the 12 days of Christmas song]) was about. Hell that lasted till January 6th! wtf?

So I'm still lingering around. Slammed by these past two months. I can only share a small bit of what I've been going through spiritually, physically, and mentally... but suffice to say in a way I'm glad that the bad parts are now fading. I'm glad that the houses of my beliefs are burning away because I know they were built on lies. Horrible lies that I swallowed and let digest in my stomach.
But now I'm cleansing it all. I'm cleaning house... and it ain't pretty. I hope that what is left, is the truth. Don't ask me what it is all about. You won't want to know. They say ignorance is bliss. So enjoy yourself, dance, and eat drink and be merry.

I got the news a couple of days ago that a great artist in the world had passed away. Had it not been for Syd Barrett, I would never have visited such strange realms, not easily obtained in this world. I can relate to him on many levels. And it hurts me because I see another artist die. Pretty interesting for someone I haven't even met.

But it's because his work, and his inspiration to other artists, did I hear him, as eccentric as he was. He now enters the pantheon of musical legends with his guitar in hand, to stand as one of music's greatest warriors. May he continually push the pillars of heaven, like he pushed the limits of music.

Rest In Peace, Syd.

Happy Birthday Cyberhole!

It has been 1 year since the grand opening, and thought that a comic was in order. My cousin, Chris, was telling me of an experience he had at a bar, and I thought it was perfect for a comic!

I also made another one for 4.4.2006 that I’m going to pop up tomorrow.

I find it very frustrating when I am confronted with a limitation in my resources. They say the shortest path between two points is a straight line, but that doesn’t apply in the world of creative expression. I will sometimes struggle with a project, to only have it laughing at me, completely formed, in my mind. So I'm working on three projects at once, and don't know where I'll end up!

Enter Project Management!

Since I am an artist, I like to work with visualizations. So, I recently bought some space on Photobucket. Its ease of use and simple layout are a perfect place to dump some of my creations. However, organizing it is going to be a pain.

So I look foward to spending more time on finishing these projects.

New format!

In this seemingly fast paced technological world it is necessary to expedite bad habits by decreasing any work associated with them to a minimum. The Cyberhole is my bad habit, and I enjoy relinquishing it to the ethers of the internet.

I try and derive my ideas from everyday life. Lately, especially with a series of unfortunate events, I have found myself at a paralyzing thought routine where nothing seems funny or entertaining. In an effort to change that, I have tried to hearken back to what made my ideas flow; namely a sense of simplicity.

Updating The Cyberhole was supposed to be an easy task. Each comic was drawn straight to the computer, colored, and then placed on a new page with the date as the title of the page. The previous page was edited so that the new comic would be included when you would click ‘next’. The comic index was updated as well, and the main page was the final page to update. Each month I would also have to create a topical banner up top of that page. And then at the end of the year, I was supposed to compress everything into a year archive. So the work had become unnecessary, and a main hindrance to my ideas. The comics were important, not the work on the web site.

This is what an average comic entailed:

Each Comic:

Draw the comic
Create a new page with date of the comic as name
Update the previous page to include the new page as a link
Update the comic index page with new comic information
Update the main page

Each Month:

Update the month banner on top
Update the news archive with previous month
Update comics archive

Each Year:

Squeeze all the year’s months into an archive

Frankly, this was getting in the way of me making comics. There are websites that do this for you for free! Like blogger.com!

I also manage websites other than this one. So it has become an ever increasing drain on my thought processes that affect me in more ways than one.
